Broccoli and Blue Cheese Gratin is an excellent choice to serve as a Thanksgiving side dish, dinner party, or for a special occasion.
This Broccoli and Blue Cheese Gratin is creamy and delicious, and it can easily be made with chopped broccoli florets mixed with a creamy, cheesy sauce and baked until bright golden brown. With a few simple ingredients, you can quickly turn plain broccoli into this exciting gratin! It makes a fantastic side dish to serve your family and guests and it will definitely make them come back for more!

Instructions

Step 1

For making the best Broccoli and Blue Cheese Gratin, first, you must heat the oven to 176°C (350°F). Grease a gratin dish or 8-9 inch baking dish with Dairy Butter.

Step 2

Cut the thick stalks of broccoli, and discard them. Cut each head in half. Prepare a pot with boiling salted water in it, and a steamer rack over it. Place the broccoli in a steamer rack. Steam until it is tender for 7 to 12 minutes (depending on the size). Drain and rinse the broccoli under cold water very well. Then chop it in medium size. Transfer it to a bowl, set it aside.

Step 3

Put a pan over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of the butter. Add the bread crumbs and stir until they become golden about 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer the buttered bread crumbs to a plate; set aside.

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoons of the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat until melted. Gently whisk in the flour, and reduce the heat. Pour the  Full-Fat Milk slowly in several steps. Stir in about 15 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Put the  Blue Cheese and cook until melted, about 2 minutes. Then remove from the heat.

Step 5

Mix the sauce with the broccoli. Transfer the mixture into the gratin or baking dish that you prepared. Make a smooth surface. Top with the buttered bread crumbs. Cut the remaining butter and dot the top. Put the pan in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until bubbling. Now it is ready to serve!

Cooking Notes

You can refrigerate the cooked broccoli for up to 24 hours.

If you want to make this Broccoli Gratin gluten-free, omit the bread crumbs and flour, and use gluten-free crumbs and almond or oat flour.
