  • rosemary sprigs (to garnish)

Nothing is as thrilling as grilling a juicy rib eye steak in the backyard. It is a good idea to get the kids away from their cell phones and gather the family outside to cook this delicious steak.
You will certainly surprise everyone with the barbecue sauce you will make. To make the sauce, you need to combine the mentioned ingredients with 1 cup of smoky sauce. Then, blend all of them until you get a smooth mixture. Grill the rib eye steak to medium-rare for about 6 minutes, and then serve with that fantastic sauce. You can garnish the steaks with rosemary sprigs.

Step 1

First, you need to use a medium-sized saucepan to mix the dry mustard, cloves, and vinegar. Gently boil for about 10 minutes (until reduced by half). Then, pour the vinegar into a heatproof bowl and clean the saucepan.

Step 2

Pour two tablespoons of oil into the saucepan and add the onion, garlic, and cumin. Cook them over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes. By that point, the onions should be soft.

Step 3

Then, add the tomatoes along with brown sugar. Cook for another five minutes until they become soft. To take the final steps in making the sauce for your rib eye steak, add the remaining vinegar and the barbecue sauce and gently boil until 2 cups are lefts (for about 5 minutes). Then, using a blender, puree the sauce. Add the sambal oelek and use salt and pepper for seasoning.

Step 4

Preheat the grill pan. Rub the steaks using oil and then salt and pepper for seasoning them. Use medium-high heat to grill the steaks until they are a bit charred (a total of 6 minutes, turn them once). Garnish the rib eye steak with rosemary and enjoy it with the barbecue sauce.

Cooking Notes

After grilling the rib eye steaks, let them cool down for 5 minutes before serving.

You can also rub the steaks with butter.

Coarsely chop the tomatoes before adding them to rib eye steak.
