  • 600grams skinless boneless chicken thighs, cut into 1 1/2-inch piece
  • 1tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3tablespoons light brown sugar (or white granulated sugar)
  • 3tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1tablespoonsesame oil, optional (adds a wonderful flavor)
  • 2teaspoons minced garlic (2 cloves garlic)
  • 1sliced shallotto garnish
  • 1sliced green onion stemto garnish
  • 4cups lightly steamed broccoli florets
  • 1teaspoon cornstarch (or corn flour) mixed with 2 teaspoons water (ONLY IF NEEDED)

Step 1

Cooking Notes

If you don’t like garlic, you can replace it with ½ teaspoon minced ginger. Some people use this recipe. It depends on your taste. You can have both garlic and ginger in chicken as well. It’s your choice!

If your sauce hasn’t thickened, all you need to do is whisk the sauce in the cornstarch/water mixture and quickly stir until the sauce thickens.

If the sauce is too thick and you don’t like it, you can add water to it gradually until you get the result you want.
