Ingredients

  • 400 gramscan chopped tomatoes

  • 2bay leaves
  • 100gramsplain flour
  • 1literFull-Fat Milk
  • 50gramsParmesan Cheese
  • 1/4fresh nutmeg (finely grated)
  • 100gramsbaby spinach
  • a handful of basil (leaves torn)
  • 250gramsdried lasagna sheets (about 12 sheets)
  • 50gramsCheddar Cheese (grated)
  • 150gramsFresh Mozzarella Cheese, torn into small pieces

Lasagne is the oldest type of pasta. Three-Cheese Meatball Lasagna is pure, satisfying, comfort food, and it’s a great way to feed a hungry family and meat lovers. This Italian comfort food is made with layers of rich tomato sauce, White Sauce, lasagna sheets, meatballs, spinach, basil, Mozzarella, Parmesan, and Cheddar cheese. The combination of these three kinds of cheese gives this lasagna an irresistible gooey factor.

The Three-Cheese Meatball Lasagna dish is delicious. Who would have thought meatballs in lasagne!! But it works, and you would definitely make it again.
This delicious, saucy, meatball lasagne is a great family dinner or midweek meal combining two popular favorites. The little meatballs make a nice change from the normal beef filling or sliced meatballs.

Instructions

Step 1

Put the sausages into the mixer and squeeze them and roll them into small meatballs. You will have about four meatballs from each sausage. Heat a frying pan. Add olive oil to the pan. Fry the meatballs until they become golden brown. When they are ready, put them on a plate; set them aside.

Step 2

Put the onion into the same pan and fry it with the rest of the oil for 10 minutes. Add the garlic, oregano, fennel, and chili (optional). Stir for about 2 minutes. Add the tomato puree, sugar, and tomatoes. Let it simmer over low heat for about 30-40 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Step 3

Now it is time to make the White Sauce. So prepare a saucepan and melt the Kalleh Dairy Butter. Add the flour. Whisk to make a roux. Gently pour the milk and stir continuously. Add the nutmeg and seasoning. Let it infuse for about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Heat the oven to 190°C/170°C.

Step 5

Pour half of the tomato sauce into a baking dish. Keep about ten meatballs aside, and add the rest of them to the baking pan. Add half of the spinach, a little Kalleh Parmesan Cheese, and basil. Pour a third of the White Sauce over it. Top with a layer of lasagna sheets.

Step 6

Repeat the layers with meatballs, tomato sauce, spinach, basil, Parmesan, white sauce, pasta. Top the end layer of the lasagna sheet with White Sauce and dot with ten meatballs that you set aside. Finish the lasagna with Kalleh Fresh Mozzarella, Parmesan, and Kalleh Cheddar Cheese.

Step 7

Put the baking dish of lasagna into the preheated oven and bake it until the top of it becomes golden. Your delicious Three-Cheese Meatball Lasagna is ready after 40-50 minutes. Enjoy!

Cooking Notes

You can use beef or turkey mince instead of sausages.

You can assemble this lasagna and freeze it for two months, defrost it before baking in the oven.

The leftovers are good, even for the next day. You can simply reheat in the microwave or oven.
